How to make cashew milk?

Cashew milk is a creamy and nutrient-packed, non-diary beverage. It is surprisingly simple to produce at home with simply 2 ingredients. The milk can be used in a variety of ways in your kitchen to add flavor, texture and – of course – lots of nutrients to your food.

Here is the simple procedure to extract cashew milk:

  • Soaking

You will need 1 cup of raw and fresh cashew nuts. Soak them in water and leave overnight.

  • Blending

Drain the water the next day and add 2 to 4 cups of fresh water to the cashews. Use your blender or food processor to produce a fine and runny mixture. Voila! Your cashew milk is ready!

  • Straining

You may skip this step. But if you need very fine texture, use a strainer or cheesecloth to strain the mixture. You’ll then get the right consistency for your milk.

  • Flavoring

This is an entirely optional step. You may enjoy the natural nutty flavor of your cashew milk or make it more flavorful. Add some brown sugar or honey to sweeten it. Using just a pinch of cinnamon powder or nutmeg will also impart a pleasant taste to your drink.

Now that your homemade cashew milk is ready, you can store it in an air-tight container for up to 4 days. It’s time to be creative in your kitchen and use this milk in different recipes. It can be a great replacement for dairy milk if you are lactose intolerant. Additionally, you can simply use it for its numerous nutrients.

Here are some ideas about creating some lip-smacking beverages and turning your everyday food more nutritious by using cashew milk as one of the key ingredients.

Smoothies

Make your smoothies creamier and more nutritious by replacing the conventional diary milk with cashew milk. Use your favorite fruit along with a dash of vanilla and honey for some added flavor.

Latte

Believe me, cashew milk makes the  best lattes! These turn out deliciously frothy and creamy. So, coffee lovers can enjoy a nutritious beverage through their own homemade cashew milk.

Ice-cream Shakes

Kids love these! Unfortunately, it’s not a treat you can give your kids too frequently due to the high sugar and fat content. But, making your ice-cream shakes with cashew milk will be a game changer. Your kids will be getting loads of vitamins, minerals and the “good” fats of cashews through their favorite ice-cream shake.

Oatmeal

Transform your everyday breakfast into a more delightful meal. Simply cook your oatmeal in cashew milk. The result will be an incredibly nutritious breakfast with a creamier texture as compared to oats cooked in water or dairy milk.

Pancakes

Use this nut milk to make dairy-free and fluffy pancakes. You may use whole wheat flour for a healthier version of your breakfast pancakes.

There are loads of ways to experiment with cashew milk in your recipes. Use it in your soups and gravies or simply make hot chocolate. The result will always be delicious and healthy.
